The Ex-Minister of Petroleum Resources Ms. Diezani Alison Madueke may loss more properties to the government pending the determination of her case.
The move is the on going investigation which is in collaboration with National Crime Agency in United Kingdom. It would be recalled that in October 2015 National Crime Agency arrested Alison Madueke and quizzed her for alleged bribery, corruption and money laundering
EFCC has early seized a mansion worth NGN3.6 billion .in Abuja.
EFCC says it is investigating a property alleged to have been acquired by the Ex-Minister in Port Harcourt, the River State Capital.
This investigation is part of the probe of the alleged $10.0 billion looted from the cover of the State when she was the Minister of Petroleum Resources.
The property in Port Harcourt is said to worth NGN3.5 billion. The source said other properties which seems to have link with the Minister is still under monitoring in the city of Port Harcourt.
The source said they have identified more five properties in the city, but they need to verify the real owner of those properties matching them with the document, before taking action on those properties.
According to the source, within one week the Agency will be done with their investigation whereby giving the net worth of those properties.
The clause that allows the forfeiture is stated below
“Section 28 of the EFCC Act reads: ‘Where a person is arrested for an offence under this Act, the Commission shall immediately trace and attach all the assets and properties of the person acquired as a result of such economic or financial crime and shall thereafter cause to be obtained an interim attachment order from the Court.Enloghomes brings home news and more.we are at home.
