ANOTHER PDP SACK AGAIN
The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for Taraba on Saturday nullified the election of Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku, of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Tribunal, sitting in Abuja, declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress and a Minister designate, Aisha Alhassan, as the winner of the April 11 governorship election in the state.
The three-member tribunal held that Mr. Ishaku was not validly nominated as candidate of the PDP and therefore did not qualify, from start, to contest the governorship election.
Specifically, the tribunal held that the governorship primaries purportedly conducted by the PDP in the state was done in violation of section 78 (b) (1)(2) of the Electoral Act which guides parties nomination to the position of governorship candidate.
It held that contrary to the provision of the section, PDP conducted the purported primaries at its national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja with no clear delegation from the local government areas in the state.
The tribunal sustained the testimonies of the head of election monitoring of Independent National Electoral Commission that the commission was not aware of any primaries conducted by the party in line with the provision of the electoral act which produced Ishaku as the party’s flagbearer.
UNDER 17 FINAL EXPECT THE BEST.
Three weeks ago, 24 teams from six confederations arrived in South America to contest the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015. Fifty-two matches later it has been confirmed that an African side will definitely lift the trophy, while Belgium and Mexico will seek to end their campaign on a high note by winning bronze before the tournament showpiece gets underway. we are looking ahead to the final day of competition.
The final
Mali-Nigeria,
Two teams from the same confederation will go toe-to-toe in the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the first time in 22 years and ten editions of the tournament, after CAF sides Ghana and Nigeria met in the final back in 1993. The Golden Eaglets secured the second of their four World Cup crowns with a 2-1 victory that day. “It’s very important for African football and incredible that something like this has only happened once before,” said Nigeria’s Orji Okwonkwo in eager anticipation of this continental showdown, where the record champions could become the second team to defend their title on Sunday evening after Brazil triumphed in 1997 and 1999.

Although the Nigerians have ample experience of these showdowns, Sunday night’s game will mark the first time a Malian side has reached the final of any FIFA tournament. After the country’s third-place finish at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand a few months ago, coach Baye Ba’s squad have gone one step further in Chile. “Let me tell you straight: you build up an appetite by eating,” he explained before the last four. Mali’s passage to the final has surely increased this hunger even further.

BEN CARSON CLEAR AIR.
Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated: his application and acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, "He was introduced to folks from West Point by his ROTC supervisors," campaign manager Barry Bennett "They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission." It could be recalled that Ben Carson has put a number of books in the library shelf some of his work includes Gifted hands2003, A More perfect Union 2015,
Benjamin Solomon "Ben" Carson, Sr. (born September 18, 1951) is a retired American neurosurgeon who is a candidate for President of the United States in the 2016 presidential election. Born into poverty in Detroit, Michigan and a graduate of Yale University and the University of Michigan Medical School, Carson is the author of numerous books on his medical career and political stances, and was the subject of a television drama series about his life story in 2009.
He was the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland from 1984 until his retirement in 2013. Among his achievements as a surgeon were separation of conjoined twins and a technique for controlling brain seizures. Both achievements were recognized in 2008 with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Upon delivering a widely publicized speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast, Carson became a popular conservative figure in political media for his views on social and political issues. On May 4, 2015, Carson announced he was running for the Republican nomination in the 2016 presidential election at a rally in his hometown of Detroit
Early life of Carson as recorded
Carson was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Sonya (née Copeland) and Robert Solomon Carson, a Baptist minister and later Cadillac factory worker. Both of Carson's parents came from rural Tennessee African- American. Carson's mother was only 13 when she married Carson's father. Carson's mother discovered her husband had another family, to which Carson's father eventually moved. Following his parents' divorce when Carson was eight years old, both he and his older brother, Curtis, were raised by their mother, who worked two or three jobs at a time, usually as a domestic servant. They were very poor; his mother occasionally relied on food stamps and other government assistance.
In his book Gifted Hands, Carson relates that, in his youth, he had a violent temper. He said he once tried to hit his mother over the head with a hammer over a clothes dispute and, that while in the ninth grade, he attempted to stab a friend who had changed the station on the radio; the blade broke in his friend's belt buckle. After this incident, Carson said that he began reading the Book of Proverbs and applying verses on anger. As a result, Carson states he "never had another problem with temper" But nine friends, classmates and neighbors who grew up with Carson told CNN in 2015 they did not remember the anger or violence that Carson has described; all expressed surprise about the incidents that Carson said had happened.
Carson attended Southwestern High School in Southwest Detroit where he excelled in JROTC, a program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces. He quickly rose to cadet colonel, highest ranking cadet in his area.
In his autobiography, Gifted Hands, Carson wrote that he dined in 1969 with General William Westmoreland, then the chief of staff of the Army and a recent commander of U.S. military operations in Vietnam, and "Later I was offered a full scholarship to West Point. This is the bone of contention. As overjoyed as I felt to be offered such a scholarship, I wasn't really tempted." On November 6, 2015, Carson's campaign clarified that he had been "introduced to folks from West Point by his ROTC Supervisors....[who] told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission [to West Point].
Carson graduated from Yale University, where he majored in psychology.[ He received his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School

A RUSSIAN MEDIA MOGUL IS DEAD
Controversial Russian media mogul Mikhail Lesin, who helped found the RT English-language television network, has been found dead at a Washington hotel. He was 57.
RT, formerly known as Russia Today, said the former minister of media affairs died of a heart attack.
"Lesin died. It's impossible to believe this," tweeted Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of RT, which is state funded.
ACB News, quoting a Russian and a US official, reported late Friday that Lesin had been found in Washington's Dupont Circle Hotel the day before.
A controversial figure, Lesin had been accused of limiting press freedom in Russia.
In a terse statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters late Friday that the "president highly values the enormous contribution Mikhail Lesin made helping establish Russian media."
Washington police would not confirm his death, saying only that they were investigating the death of someone on the block where the hotel is located in a fashionable area of Washington.
US officials notified the Russian embassy of Lesin's death and authorities from both countries are trying to determine the circumstances in which he died.
Lesin was Russia's minister of press, television and radio between 1999 and 2004 and later served as a Kremlin aide.
In 2013, he became head of Gazprom-Media Holding, the media arm of state energy giant Gazprom, and oversaw the work of Russia's top liberal radio station Echo of Moscow, among other tasks.
Lesin resigned a year later, citing family reasons.
In a recent interview, the former editor of state news agency RIA Novosti, Svetlana Mironyuk, claimed Lesin was one of two people behind her sacking in 2013.
- 'A state man' -
Mironyuk told the Russian edition of Forbes she was let go after she became a student at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with Kremlin officials telling her a media executive of her stature should not study in the United States.
Republican Senator Robin Wicker of Mississippi called for a probe into Lesin last year on suspicion of money laundering and corruption, ABC said.
He allegedly amassed millions of dollars in assets in Europe and the United States while working for the government, including $28 million (26 million euros) in real estate in Los Angeles.
"That a Russian public servant could have amassed the considerable funds required to acquire and maintain these assets in Europe and the United States raises serious questions," Wicker wrote, according to ABC.
It said it was unclear whether the FBI had actually opened an investigation.
In 2014, Lesin told Forbes he thought it was okay that most television channels in Russia were state-controlled.

GOOGLE SET TO BEAT APPLE.
Google doesn’t want to sit around while its Android ecosystem becomes ever more fragmented. It’s apparently looking at ways to exert more control, Apple-style, of Android smartphones by having a say in the creation of their processors.
Google has been talking to chip manufacturers about building smartphone processors that are based on Google’s own designs,
The report didn’t specify which chip manufacturers Google was talking to, but Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung are the biggest vendors for Android phones. Qualcomm is the most ubiquitous, MediaTek is focused on lower-cost Android phones and Samsung’s Exynos chipsets go into its own devices.
It’s hard to see Qualcomm agreeing to this sort of partnership with Google, since ceding control over design would start to commoditize its business and make it harder to differentiate from other chip makers. Qualcomm is already dealing with weakening demand for its chips and pricing pressure on its IP licensing business. For smaller chip makers though the stamp of approval from Google could make it easier to win business with smartphone manufacturers.
Google wants to make Android more competitive with Apple’s iOS ecosystem, which has been gaining market share over the last year while still-dominant Android has declined slightly.

The world’s top-performing CEO isn’t a household name. In fact, Lars Rebien Sorensen doesn’t even look like a big-time global executive. He met us in shorts, sandals, and a polo shirt, dressed for a bike ride later that day.

Bridget O’Neill and Justin Simons
By switching up the order in which normal courtships unfold, Bridget O’Neill and Justin Simons got an advance look at what sort of long-term couple they might make. Not to mention what type of parents they would be.
At the tender ages of 21 and 23, Ms. O’Neill and Mr. Simons found themselves raising five children. Over the course of three years, they reared 13 children, all of whom had various levels of mental and behavioral challenges. The sudden parenthood happened in 2012, after the couple, who had been dating just over a year, became involved with the Devereux Foundation’s treatment home program, a foster care service geared toward children with special needs.

BIAFRAN ON PROTEST.
The IPOB supporters numbering over 30,000 were earlier seen gathered at Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu Statue by Niger Bridge Head, also known as Odumegwu Ojukwu Gateway, Niger Bridge Head Onitsha, chanting and dancing pro-Ojukwu and Biafran songs, from where they marched peacefully down to Upper Iweka Flyover.
They were seen marching from Upper Iweka Flyover to Onitsha/Owerri Road, to Nkpor Junction, Ochanja Central Market, Onitsha Main Market, Old and New Market Roads, Onitsha chanting anti-Federal Government, Police, Army and Navy songs, demanding the release of Mr. Kanu, whom they said is being incarcerated for over three weeks now, and the continued arrest and detention of their members as well as the actualization of the Biafran cause.
There was unusual presence of the police on the major roads and streets of Onitsha, but their presence did not deter the protesting IPOB supporters, who were also cautious of the behaviour of their members to road users and petty traders who wanted to cash in on the closure of markets and big stores and shops to do brisk business.
IPOB supporters who wanted to be unruly on road users were promptly shouted on and cautioned by their leaders to behave well, that molestation and dispossessing people of their property and goods, looting of people’s shops and property were not part of their agenda.
Meanwhile, in Port Harcourt, hundreds of pro-Biafra supporters made real their threat to protest in Rivers State yesterday as they marched on Okobe Community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of the East West Road.
An eyewitness who spoke to Saturday Vanguard said they were chanting solidarity songs as they marched on the road.

BEWARE!!!
Ogun State government has raised an alarm over the discovery of poisonous cattle hide and skin otherwise known as ‘Ponmo’ in some markets in the state, warning the people against its consumption.
The government said some unscrupulous businessmen were taking advantage of the gap in demand and supply of the soup ingredient popularly called ‘Ponmo’ to sell industrial ‘Ponmo’ laden with tanning chemicals to the unsuspecting public.
The state commissioner for Agriculture, Ronke Sokefun raised the alarm, yesterday, while addressing stakeholders and ‘Ponmo’ sellers in her office, in Abeokuta.
Sokefun explained that the toxic ‘Ponmo’ otherwise known as ‘imported ponmo’ is often brownish black, foul smelling, abnormally thick with layers and ridiculously cheap compared to the certified ponmo.
According to her, what is being sold is raw hide meant for leather production from African and European countries like Sudan, Italy and Japan.
“Tanning chemicals like biocides and fungicides are added along the processing chain to preserve the hides against protein degradation, bacteria and mould growth that would have damaged the hides and skin,” she said.
Dasuki denies invitation
In a brazen move to arrest and prevent the former National Security Adviser, NAS, to President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd), from travelling abroad for medical attention, security operatives, yesterday, besieged the Asokoro residence of the embattled former military officer.
The siege on his 13, John Khadiya home, Asokoro by the operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, came moments after they had successfully stopped him from travelling abroad for medical attention, as directed by an Abuja Federal High Court.
The siege on his 13, John Khadiya home, Asokoro by the operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, came moments after they had successfully stopped him from travelling abroad for medical attention, as directed by an Abuja Federal High Court.
The armed DSS officials, laden in two operational black trucks, stationed themselves in front of the expansive compound of the former NSA but were not confrontational with passers-by, who did not understand what was going on around the highbrow neighbourhood.
Vanguard learnt that the siege might not be unconnected with a renewed bid to arrest and charge Dasuki to a different court over what a security source described as “fresh evidence” against him.
The overall goal, according to informed sources, is to make it impossible for Dasuki to leave Nigeria with charges of illegal arms possession and money laundering hanging on his neck.
The sources said the security agents were dissatisfied with Justice Ademola Adeniyi’s order, directing them to release Dasuki’s passport for him to travel abroad for three weeks in search of medical attention.
The security establishment, it was learnt, are apprehensive Dasuki could escape from the country and evade prosecution for offences against the state.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, last Tuesday, granted Dasuki’s request for his passport to be released to enable him to travel abroad for medical treatment.
However, Vanguard learnt, yesterday, that Dasuki, who was billed to travel on Wednesday night, was stopped by security operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Dasuki reportedly returned to the airport yesterday morning to make his trip but was also prevented by the same security agents, who did not, however, give him any reason for their action.

In anger, she whips him and tells him how he has ‘betrayed his mum and his children.’

MOURINHO LOSE APPEAL
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s appeal against a suspended one-match stadium ban and a £50,000 fine for post-match media comments made after the game against Southampton has been dismissed by the Football Association (FA).
Mourinho was handed the sanctions last month after suggesting in an interview following the 3-1 home defeat to the Saints that referees were “afraid” to award penalties to his team.
The Portuguese confirmed his intention to appeal shortly after but the FA confirmed on Thursday that the initial decision had been upheld.
“An Appeal Board has dismissed the appeal from Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in relation to a decision made by an Independent Regulatory Commission

confusion in Customs
THERE are indications that the newly retired officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) are still in the service of the agency following the absence of a board that should rectify and approve their retirement
The same reason has also been given for the newly promoted officers, who cannot take over their offices as there is no board to rectify the promotions.
The same reason has also been given for the newly promoted officers, who cannot take over their offices as there is no board to rectify the promotions.
Sources at the agency told said the retired officers still come to work but not in their uniform.
It was gathered that the officers cannot leave the system because in the Customs And Excise Management Act (CEMA), the Comptroller-General of Customs does not have the powers to retire or promote certain level of officers without recourse to the board.

NIGERIA PIN MEXICO
Expect all African final as Nigeria meets Mali the cup is coming home....Stay at home.
Holders Nigeria have reached their second consecutive final thanks to a thrilling 4-2 victory against Mexico in Concepcion.
Mexico opened the scoring through Kevin Magana, with stunning efforts from Kelechi Nwakali and Orji Okwonkwo seeing the African side ahead. Diego Cortes's remarkable solo effort levelled matters, before Osinachi Ebere and Victor Osimhen's late record-equalling penalty saw the Golden Eaglets into an all-African final against Mali.
Mexico controlled the ball in the opening stages of the match, and took the lead early on. Kevin Lara beat his man on the Mexican right and delivered a teasing cross into the middle. Aguirre tried to control with his chest, but Magana took charge and fired home.
Emmanuel Amuneke's side began to grow into the game, with Kelechi Nwakali hitting a low drive from the edge of the Mexican penalty area with his venomous drive stinging the palms of Romero before the ball was cleared away.
The game see-sawed back Mexico's way, with a free-kick from the Mexican left headed goalwards by Jose Esquivel. The chance forced a superb point blank stop by Akpan Udoh, onto the crossbar and eventually cleared behind.
Nigeria rode their luck, with a couple of good Mexican opportunities and after riding the storm, managed to level things up thanks to the superb technique of their captain. Nwakali lined up a free-kick from around 25 yards, and curled a perfect effort into the bottom left-hand corner. Romero stood no chance.
Amuneke's charges sensed their opponents were on the back foot, and Okwonkwo took advantage, producing one of the moments of the tournament to see his side ahead. He cut inside from the left onto his right foot and thumped an effort in off the crossbar.
After the break, Mexico took time to reassert their rhythm after the shock of going behind. Cortes then stepped up to score what must be considered one of the best goals ever scored in the Estadio Ester Roa. He picked up the ball on the Mexican right just inside the Nigerian half and proceeded to dribble past five players, showing incredible close control before slotting calmly past Udoh.
Nigeria were undeterred by Cortes's golazo and struck back. Ebere found space on the Nigerian right just inside the Mexican penalty area after a long through ball. His right-footed effort was too strong for Romero, who got a hand to the strike but could not keep it out.
John Lazarus was taken down in the Mexican penalty area, giving Osimhen the chance to score his ninth goal of Chile 2015 and go level at the top of the all-time U-17 World Cup goalscoring charts. He slotted home with ease, adding gloss to the Golden Eaglets victory.

TUC TELLS BUHARI NO CHANGE YET.
NATIONAL President of Trade Union Congress, TUC, Comrade Bobboi Kaigama, said yesterday that five months after President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office, Nigerians were yet to feel the change mantra.
This came as Julius Berger Nigeria Plc announced plans to downsize its workforce due to government’s indebtedness to construction companies in the country.
Kaigama, who spoke while addressing construction workers at the 10th Triennial National Delegates Conference of the Construction and Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association, CCESSA, in Abuja, said government should know that the change mantra of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was not just going after corrupt officials.
According to him, for the change mantra to be meaningful in the country, there should be job security in the companies and security of lives and property. He said it was only when these were done that Nigerians would know that change had started.
Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria limited, Engr. Detlev Lubasch, noted that going by the present economic realities in the country and the huge indebtedness construction companies were facing, such companies were unable to meet up with their financial obligations.
Lubasch, who was represented by a staff of the Human Resources unit, Moses Anietie, said: “Comrades, our industry is in dire straits, occasioned by non-payment for ongoing and already completed jobs.
“As you all know, the construction industry is mostly engaged by the governments: federal, state and local, with little patronage from corporate entities and private individuals. In view of this, any distortion in the income equilibrium of our major clients will definitely affect the income and cash flow of the construction companies
“As a consequence of this, construction companies are unable to sustain the existing structures in terms of meeting its obligations to staff and subcontractors. lt, therefore, became imminent that there must be staff reduction as well as other cost saving measures.
In his welcome address, the national president of CCESSA, Comrade Augustine Etafo, advised President Buhari to keep to his campaign promises and guard against appointing persons of questionable characters into his government.
Etafo, who is the Deputy President of TUC, said: “Nigerians have suffered greatly for democracy to come to stay. They must reap the benefits of democracy through good governance which we are expecting from the new government led by President Muhhamadu Buhari.
”
THIS IS WHAT MRS BUHARI SAID.
Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, on Thursday said Nigerians are in safe hands in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The President’s wife spoke in Enugu, where she inaugurated a Health Screening Initiative Programme.
She also assured Nigerians that her husband’s administration would generate love, unity, security and integrity in the country.
“The government of my husband is a government of unity, love and security.
“Nigerians are in safe hands in my husband’s government,” she said.
According to her, Buhari would safeguard the future of Nigerians through good governance.
The health screening programme, which is expected to enable women ascertain their health condition at no cost, would promote good health, particular among the rural women and the less privileged, she said.

ROCHAS STAY CLEAR PDP. STATED
Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday expressed shock at the pronouncement of the chairman, All Progressives Congress, (APC), Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State that the APC is bent on taking over Rivers and Akwa Ibom States from the PDP.
State Chairman of the PDP, Bro Felix Obuah through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, said Okorocha’s recent revelation of the plot is an eloquent collaboration of a similar recent pronouncement by the APC Chairman in the State, Davies Ikanya that the APC-led Federal Government could not afford to lose Rivers State.
Gov. Okorocha while addressing newsmen after the meeting of APC Governors’ in Bauchi said desperation of the party to take over the two South/South states is because they won the April 11, 2015 governorship elections in the two states but were robbed by the PDP.
But Obuah said even though Okorocha, who has allegedly converted Imo State to a family estate did not explain how his APC intends to actualize the plot, the PDP State Chairman warned him and his fellow plotters to steer clear of the State as the Rivers people are prepared to resist any unlawful means to snatch the mandate given to Gov. Nyesom Wike.
