Akwa Ibom: Police nab physically-challenged, 5 others for kidnapping
The Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested six persons, including a physically-challenged, suspected to be involved in the kidnap of two women in Akwa Ibom.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Murtala Mani, announced this at a press conference in Uyo, the capital, said the suspects were arrested at Oruk Anam Local Government Area of the state.
The police commissioner said the suspects kidnapped their victims and kept them in the bush for six days before they were arrested.
“The suspects upon arrest and interrogation confessed to the crime, one locally-made pistol used by the gang was recovered,’’ he said.
The commissioner also said the command arrested a gang of suspected armed robbers on January 22, who invaded a house at Ikot Osute village also in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.He said they robbed a man of his Nokia cell phone valued at N5,000 and a cash of N10, 000 at gun point, adding that they would soon be charged to court.
 In a separate development, the In Enugu State the Police Command has arrested eight motorists over obstruction of traffic in various parts of Enugu metropolis.The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, told newsmen that the state Commissioner of Police had ordered the arrest of those who were obstructing traffic.
Amaraizu also said the command had deployed special traffic officers to check the incessant traffic jams within major routes in the Enugu metropolis.
He said the key routes include: Holy Ghost-Ogbete Market area; Garki-Major area of Agbani road; subway-Ogui road area and Polo Park area of Enugu-Abakaliki road.“Most of the time their action causes breach of peace and hardship to other law abiding road users. Especially for those that ply Holy Ghost-Ogbete Market area of Enugu North Local Government Area,’’ he said.
The police spokesman said the special traffic officers would also watch out for people that blocked roads with goods and services, thereby denying road users way to pass with their vehicles.
“The Command is, therefore, advising members of the public causing traffic obstruction to desist from such practice as security operatives have been empowered to arrest and arraign them in court,’’ he added
