MAN DOCKED STEALING

Security man docked over alleged stealing of employer’s car valued N9mA 42-year-old security man, Matthew Okilua, who allegedly connived with some car dealers and attempted to steal a car worth N9 million belonging to his employer was on Friday docked at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused, who resides with his employer at Parkview Estate, Ikoyi area of Lagos, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on stealing and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Nicholas Akpene, told the court that the accused committed the offenses on Dec. 10 around 10:a.m. at Parkview Estate, Ikoyi area of Lagos State.
Akpene said that the accused allegedly attempted to steal one Toyota Prado jeep with registration number, ABJ-956 AM, valued at N9 million belonging to Hassan Ibrahim.
The accused with others still at large connived with some car dealers and allegedly attempted to steal the car before their plan was foiled.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 404 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs S. K. Matepo, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Matepo said that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and must be gainfully employed.
She adjourned the case till Jan. 13 for mention.
