TWO POLICE OFFICERS SHOT

One San Diego Police Officer was shot dead while the other was seriously wounded said the associated press.

One San Diego police officer was fatally shot and another was wounded Thursday night while trying to stop a suspect in the southeastern part of the city, the police chief said. One suspect is in custody, and the police said Friday they were surrounding a house in search of a possible second suspect.

Almost immediately, the officers called for emergency assistance. One officer, a 16-year veteran of the department named Jonathan DeGuzman, was rushed to hospital in a police vehicle but he later died, she said. He was married with two children.

In a response the Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump said

"Two policemen just shot in San Diego, one dead. It is only getting worse. People want LAW AND ORDER!"
The issues of gun violence, police safety, and police brutality have all been major topics of discussion in the presidential campaigns this year. Police across the U.S. have been on alert following the killing of several officers in the cities of Dallas and Baton Rouge in recent weeks.
