CINCINNAT zoo officals has shot dead a male western lowland Silverback gorilla on Saturday. This was after grabbing a child who had fallen into its enclosure. NBC news reported that a four year-old unidentified boy climbed a railing and before falling into the Gorilla world exhibit. more pic after the cut
It was reported that Harambe was extremely agitated. First responders on the scene “witnessed the gorilla violently dragging and throwing the child.”
As a result of the animal’s actions, a Cincinnati Zoo employee shot the gorilla with a long rifle. The unidentified child was taken to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. The zoo will be open on Sunday, but the Gorilla World exhibit will be closed until further notice.
