It seems some form of turn of event is taking place in the land of promise Akwa Ibom State.The Governorship election held on April 11th has been nullified according national dailies.
The
Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Wednesday has asked the
Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to conduct a fresh
governorship election in 18 out of the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State.
Mr. Umana Okon Umana, the candidate of APC and
All Progressives Congress filed a petition challenging
the declaration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel of the Peoples Democratic Party as the
winner of the April 11, 2015 election. from source the petition has established that election held in some part of the state were inconclusive.
The
local government areas in which fresh elections were ordered to be
conducted are Etim Ekpo, Uyo, Ikono, Ibesikpo-Asutan, and Onna
Others are Oruk Anam, Uruan, Ibuno, Ibono- Ibom, Nsit Ibom, Nsit Ubium, Ini, Oron, Nsit Atai, Etinan, Udung Oko and Eket.
18 local government out of 31 local government will have to go back to poll.
