The police in Lagos on Tuesday said an alleged serial murderer and kidnapper who fled Akwa Ibom State after sustaining a gunshot wound has been arrested
.
Sunday Ukpe, 33, was arrested by operatives attached to Ajangbadi police Division on Sunday evening with a bullet wound on his testis.
The suspect was applying native medicine on the injury at 113, Zone 6, Orisha Imude Street, Ajangbadi, when the police invaded his hideout at about 4:00pm and arrested him.
The Nation gathered that the suspect has been on the wanted list of the Akwa Ibom police command for various armed robbery, kidnapping and murder crimes.
The police, it was gathered took him to a private hospital after he was arrested following the seriousness of his injury.
Ukpe was on admission at the unnamed hospital under police surveillance till Tuesday morning.
Confirming the arrest, the state command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police (SP) said the division received a call from Akwa Ibom at about 2:00pm on Sunday and the suspect was arrested same day.
She said: “Investigation extended to Akwa Ibom State police command confirmed that the suspect is a serial killer and armed robber who has been on the wanted list of SARS in that state.
“Effort is ongoing to hand him over to Akwa Ibom State command for discreet investigation.
“The Lagos command has stated that it will continue to clamp down on all criminals within the state regardless of where they have committed their crimes,” she said.
