Are You Living in Lagos? You Must Read This!


When one thinks about major cities in Nigeria,  one of the them happen to be Lagos State. But the report released by Economist Intelligence on  Wednesday 18th August put Lagos Liveability Index  at a position that may triggered some rethink about her support to life.

The report ranked Lagos  as the third worst city to live. The report indicated that Lagos  maintained its position  at the lowest rung of Global Liveability Index.
Lagos has a population of about 22 million  and is regarded as one of the mega cities,

The report placed the cities as 138th position of 140 considered cities in the ranking survey. It is two position above the war- ravaged Tripoli and Damascus in Syria

Apart from kidnapping, Cult activities, and land gadders The activities of Boko Haram was also one of the threat to poor  living standard in the city.
According to the report, Melbourne in Australia, Vienna in Austria, Vancouver , Toronto and Calgary all in Canada were the top five cities with higher ranging.

The survey assessment was based on stability, health care, culture and environment.Others was education and infrastructure
While Lagos was ranked high in culture and infrastructure on other categories it was very low.
On African cities was able to make the first 10th position.

Douala In Cameroon is placed at 132, Hararein Zimbabwe 133th and Algiers in Algeria 134

Some are arguing  that there are worst cities in the west not mentioned, others are see it as a wake up call for African cities to  improve on the standard of living for the good of her citizen.
